The following SAP project failures are the first three of what we will review over the next few weeks. The SAP project failures we will review are high-profile examples with significant lessons to be learned. In nearly every case where the SAP implementation actually occurred, within one to two years after the troubled go-live, the SAP software itself was reasonably well-received and the business generally satisfied. ================= One interesting feature of the SAP project fai [...]

By Steve Phillips|December 6th, 2010|

The following is a post from my friend Steve Phillips who runs a great site entitled "Street Smart ERP Blog." This is a nice complement to the series I just finished on SAP and ERP critical success factors. ================= Steve Phillips writes: Having spent the majority of my career in the shoes of a software consultant or client, I have often wondered why many find it necessary to perpetuate the old myths and half-truths regarding the consultant/client relationship. This post will address this S [...]

The other day, I made a post to SAP’s Community Network on how to ensure customers get the best SAP business software integrator for their money. One of the comments to that post suggested that I was advocating for customers using only SAP as their system integrator. In my response, I stated that my goal is to encourage SAP customers to get educated so they actually achieve value and ROI from their SAP business software projects. My response sums up why I started this site and what the posts he [...]

This is a continuing post in an extensive series on achieving SAP project success. For the complete series, please see the Additional Resources list at the end of this article. Last week's post looked at some of the key factors around the type of consultants you need for success, your project approach, and the structure around the project. This week, we will continue exploring details around the SAP critical success factors (SAP CSF’s) as they relate mostly to SAP project scope and SAP project [...]
